MDPE (medium-density PE)

MDPE sits between LDPE and HDPE at roughly 0.93–0.94 g/cm³, trading some of HDPE's stiffness for better stress-crack resistance and a softer feel. Its signature applications are yellow and blue gas and water pipe, shrink film blends and — the reason it appears throughout this site — refuse sacks, where MDPE and LDPE/MDPE blends give a sack that stretches before it tears.

In scrap trading MDPE rarely gets its own bale: film-grade MDPE moves inside LDPE film grades, and pipe offcuts move as declared post-industrial PE regrind. Parameters that matter are MFI, density and colour, with pipe regrind valued for its known, single-source resin. Classified with other PE under HS 3901.20 (primary forms) or 3915.10 (scrap). For sack buyers the practical takeaway: an "LDPE" sack spec often is an LDPE/MDPE blend, and the blend is what delivers the drop-test rating.
