LDPE (low-density polyethylene)

HS 3901.10B301198/295/590/1080/20jazz filmagricultural filmshrink filmresin code 4

LDPE is the soft, flexible polyethylene of films: pallet shrink, collation film, carrier bags, sacks. In scrap trading, LDPE film is graded by a colour ratio: 98/2 means at least 98% clear/natural film with at most 2% coloured or printed; 95/5, 90/10 and 80/20 loosen the tolerance; jazz is mixed colour with no promise. Separate streams exist for agricultural film (soil and UV degradation make it a distinct, lower grade) and shrink film.

Bales run 400–600 kg. Scrap classifies under HS 3915.10 and, when single-polymer and sorted, ships green-list under Basel B3011. Key parameters: clear fraction, contamination, moisture. End market: rLDPE pellet for new film — sacks, membranes, irrigation pipe. The clear fraction sets natural pellet yield, which is why each ratio step moves the price.
