ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene)

ABS is the tough, glossy engineering styrenic of appliance housings, automotive interior trim, luggage and toy bricks. It combines styrene's processability, acrylonitrile's chemical resistance and butadiene rubber's impact strength. Recycled ABS feeds back into appliance and automotive compounds, usually in black.

The trade values sorted, single-source streams: appliance dismantling, automotive trim, industrial offcuts. Complications to declare up front: PC/ABS blends (common in electronics — a different material), painted or plated parts, and flame-retardant grades, since legacy brominated FRs make WEEE-derived ABS a controlled stream requiring documented POPs separation. Key parameters: source, MFI, filler, FR declaration. Scrap classifies under HS 3915.90, primary forms 3903.30. In this corridor ABS is enquiry-led: acceptance depends on the consignee's licence scope and the completeness of the origin file.
