HS 3908 / 3915.90polyamidenylon 6nylon 66airbag fabricfishing nets

The polyamides are engineering polymers prized for toughness, wear resistance and heat performance: PA6 (melting ≈ 220 °C) in fibre, film and general engineering parts; PA66 (≈ 260 °C) in demanding automotive and electrical applications, very often glass-filled at 15–50%.

Scrap streams include industrial offcuts and sprues, airbag fabric (high-grade PA66 or PA6), fishing and aquaculture nets (PA6 — the feedstock of regenerated nylon programmes), and engineering regrind. The two polyamides must never be mixed: 40 °C apart in melt, a blend sells as the cheaper one with a discount. Glass fill declared per lot is a feature, not a defect. PA is hygroscopic, so dry storage is part of every specification. Scrap under HS 3915.90, primary forms 3908. End market: recompounded engineering materials for automotive and electrical.
