Japanese cosmetics manufacturer Kanebo has selected Eastman’s Cristal One IM812 specialty polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin for its cosmetic overcap packaging. The material is engineered to deliver the rigid, heavy-wall transparency demanded in personal care applications while maintaining compatibility with conventional PET recycling streams.

Traditionally, luxury cosmetics packaging relies on non-recyclable or hard-to-sort polymers such as styrene acrylonitrile (SAN), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), or complex multi-material assemblies.
