Rising automotive plastic content demands upgraded recycling capacity

A new report published by the American Chemistry Council (ACC) highlights a significant increase in the volume of plastics used in passenger vehicles and light trucks. Turkish recyclers specialising in technical polymers and compound reprocessing are well-positioned to capitalise on this demand. However, securing clean, well-sorted automotive feedstock from UK waste handlers will require closer cross-border collaboration and investments in advanced optical sorting and shredding technologies. UK collectors must also ensure robust carbon accounting and regulatory compliance when processing and exporting engineering plastic scrap streams across borders.
